| About Trade Masters Building Services. |
 |
| Trade Masters is a specialist, Christchurch based, building company that offers highly skilled builders for home and property owners who demand excellence in craftsmanship and service. While our services definitely extend into the new home sector, especially for homes designed with individuality and flair, it is the renovation market that has been our mainstay for the past 9 years, and we have completed over 180 building projects varying in size from minor $1000.00 work right through to major $700,000.00 plus alterations. |
| While Grant West (founder and owner of Trade Masters) originally built new homes through out the late eighties through to the late nineties, he noticed that there appeared to be large shortage of skilled trade’s people working within the renovation market. Owners were having serious issues obtaining fixed prices for projects, and there were a lot of unskilled people working in this field. Trade Masters was born from a vision that Grant had to supply the renovation sector with the same high quality service and workmanship that the individual new home sector enjoyed. “We specialise in both major and minor renovation, alteration and addition building work. We do build new homes as well, but we have discovered that having renovations completed to the extremely high standard that property owners demand, requires an exceptional skill set that can only be gained through extensive experience in the trade” says Grant “The team of people we use are experienced in the challenges that this market creates.” As Trade Masters are members of Certified Builders Association of NZ, you can rest assured that you are utilising the services of a trade qualified builder who has met the strict criteria that is required to qualify as a CBANZ member. “CBANZ is the only builders association that requires its members to be trade qualified and it is with great pride that we belong to such an organisation” |
| Trade Masters Building Services do not have a lot of permanent builders on their staff, preferring instead to utilise labour supply contracts with their builders. “I believe we get the very best from our people when they are responsible for their workmanship and quality. Wage earning staff can be very disruptive in our industry, and they are aware that recourse action is difficult to administer. My labour contractors on the other hand know they have to perform at the top of their game because it is their reputation on the line as well.” The team of people who contract to Trade Masters are of the highest calibre and you will find that the person in charge of your job will be a fully qualified tradesperson and will have at least 20 000 hours experience with in the building industry. |
| To have your building work completed to the highest level, by skilled trades people, whose service and integrity is second to none, does not have to cost a fortune, and while Trade Masters are not the cheapest builders in town, they are not the most expensive either. “If all builders were created equal, then the client’s decision would be as simple as who is the cheapest? But unfortunately we are not; and often the cheapest job can create enormous budget blowouts in reparation costs and property devaluation due to substandard work.” Having said that, Grant gives you his personal assurance that you will not get the job done better for less. |

| Meet The Team |
 |
| Grant West |
Owner and founder of Trade Masters. Grant completed a full building apprenticeship in Christchurch in 1987, and started working his way towards starting his own building company in 1989. The modern methods and rules that builders must abide by consume a large amount of time. Keeping up with new technology, working out job schedules, pricing work, and organising all the different trades involved in your job are all things that keep Grant busy. Sometimes you may even catch him putting on a tool belt and doing the job as well. |
| Greame Hartly |
Our lead foreman, Greame completed his building apprenticeship in 1997 in Gore, before moving to Christchurch in 1999. He quickly rose to the rank of foreman at the firm he worked for, and joined the Trade Masters team in 2007. Greame is very much a hands on person and his role is running our larger jobs. His skills as a foreman are second to none, and we feel very privileged to have him on board. |
| Kevin McCombe |
Kevin is at the sales and marketing end of our operation. For him this is a part time position as he is also a Station Officer with New Zealand Fire service. We have found that some of the initiatives that Kevin has come up with, have greatly improved the service we can offer to our clients. |
